Director of Policy & Legislative Affairs
Lisa Smith is the Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs for the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office. She is an Attorney licensed in Maryland and New York and most recently worked for the Governor’s Office of Crime Control & Prevention, where she served as the Director of Legislation and advocated and implemented O’Malley-‐Brown Administration public safety legislative initiatives, including the Maryland law criminalizing child neglect, the Firearm Safety Act of 2013, and the 2014 legislative package strengthening the state’s anti-‐domestic violence laws.
Smith also coordinated criminal justice task forces and commissions, including the Governor’s Commission to Reform Maryland’s Pretrial System and the Task Force on Access of Mentally Ill Individuals to Regulated Firearms.
Smith previously served as CitiStat Analyst for the Baltimore City Department of Transportation and interned for the Baltimore Police Department. She was also a 2009 Baltimore City Mayoral Fellow.
Smith graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and degrees in Common Law and Civil Law. She has also lived in Central America.
